About

Setting the Stage

Daniel, ‘Radio Rucker’, Rucker credits his father with his initial interest in music. Setting the stage, his father played in a rock band as a teenager, later becoming a church choir director. Rucker joined his father onstage and began singing in church at the tender age of three.

Born in Jacksonville, FL, his family moved to Louisville, KY, where he later realized he wanted to pursue a career in music. After taking a Recording Arts class his freshman year of high school, Rucker was inspired to begin mixing music on the side. He attended The Lexington School for Recording Arts, graduating with an Audio Engineering degree in 2007. A fan of the music he creates, he approaches mixing music as if it were an instrument.

Career

Establishing himself in the radio industry while continuing to mix music, he was an on-air host of the morning show on 97.5 KISS FM out of Indianapolis, and the afternoon show on Louisville’s 98.9 RADIO NOW, currently known as 98.9 KISS FM. Creating a lot of noise, Rucker started the feature “The Local Music Movement,” recognizing local talent and debuting songs from artists like Bryson Tiller and Jack Harlow during a time when local radio wasn’t supporting homegrown artists. An integral part of the night life and local music scene in Louisville, Rucker has hosted parties and club nights at all of the major venues.

Past Experience

Working with iHeartMedia as the on-air host on morning and afternoon shows for multiple cities over the last decade. Rucker has been the voice behind promos for companies including Mars, Inc., MTV, Sullivan University, Menards, Frito Lay, Coca-Cola, as well as various movie promos. The primary audio engineer for B. Simm, he has previously worked with Billboard charting artists such as: Bubba Sparxxx, Haystak, Dusty Leigh, LiBand, Big Smo, Vory, and many more.
